Miscellaneous reading. Constantly in want of books. For the lack of which, I can have no system. If I had Rollin’s works or Allison’s or Macauly’s History I could read to much advantage, notwithstanding the noise, and crowded state of the room. The whole room floor dampened during the day, with melted snow. Several companies were organized during the day for the purpose of fighting a regular battle with snow. It was fought with great energy on both sides, and with considerable excitement. / colors flying/ Quite amusing to spectators.
