Cornelia H., age 25, North Carolina

Mr. Henry went to Bent Creek today, staid till late in the evening. I worked some on embroidry before dinner, made cake and ginger bread. In the morning it turned a good deal colder yesterday & a very unpleasant day, today snowing occasionally. Mr. Henry’s Aunt Ann Gudger died on last Friday. Aunt Patsy Jimison moved to her son Wilburn’s today. I had not heard of her going till she was gone.  *(Fear in North Carolina: The Civil War Journals and Letters of the Henry Family, Eds. Karen L.
