Mr. Henry went to Bent Creek after some rent corn from J. H. Green with his waggons. Mail brought no news this morning. The bat’l opened at Pensacola but did not last long. “Nobody hurt” but little damage done to the Confederates. Mr. Boyd brought up the spinning jinnie. We have not learned to spin on it yet. Fannie got dinner today. Mr. Henry came home late in the evening. He went to Asheville yesterday, got the children some dates. I finished my net.
