Cornelia H., age 25, North Carolina

Cold as crout. I sewed on shirts, finished another & began the last one. I intended to go to Amos Green’s burial yesterday evening. Went to the mill but it was sun down before they came along with him so I came back. Mr. Henry went. It was dark when he got back. My head feels better today.  *(Fear in North Carolina: The Civil War Journals and Letters of the Henry Family, Eds. Karen L. Clinard and Richard Russell, used with permission.)
