Cornelia H., age 25, North Carolina

Finished one dress today began another. Willie won’t let me sew half the time, so cross. Nothing of interest going on. Fannie is cooking. Jim Parker had to thrash some of the negroes yesterday evening & Jim ran away last night. Jim Parker started after him this morning. Ground the sausage Monday & rendered up the lard. I emptied it this evening or helped Fannie do it. Mr. Henry held Willie. Cool today.  *(Fear in North Carolina: The Civil War Journals and Letters of the Henry Family, Eds. Karen L.
