Cornelia H., age 25, North Carolina

I got up free of headache & went to Asheville to do some shopping, left the baby. Got back about 1 o’clock. Very warm. Mr. Henry & I went over in the wheat, took a long walk, came out through the new ground. Saw the Haywood volunteers going on, they are marching in very good order. Made but few purchases in Asheville. Had the headache very bad all night, went to bed before supper.  *(Fear in North Carolina: The Civil War Journals and Letters of the Henry Family, Eds. Karen L.
