Cornelia H., age 25, North Carolina

Mail came but nothing new. The bridges are washed away so badly, had no mail from down the river at all. Turning a good deal warmer. The mill started on yesterday. Cathey’s Mill I understand is much damaged, at least the dam & fobay. David Lowry eat dinner here yesterday. He is comissary to this Regiment. I am very sorry they are camped so near to us.  *(Fear in North Carolina: The Civil War Journals and Letters of the Henry Family, Eds. Karen L. Clinard and Richard Russell, used with permission.)
