This is Zonas birthday she is nine years old this morning. She is a great deal of help to me if my little Cora could have lived they would have been a great deal of company for each other. Zona often tells me to buy her a little sister. Mr Henry went to a mass meeting in Asheville. I very much fear the Radicals will [?] us on negro equality. The people seem excited about it. I hope we will not have another war in my time. Lord have mercy on us and deliver us from wars in our midst. Very cold and high winds all day.
