Dear Diary – Tonight Ruth, Mary and I saw “Bittersweet” at the Princess in technicolor with Nelson Eddy as Carl and Jeanette MacDonald as Sarah or Cherry. (George Sanders was a German count, the villain.) Not having read a word about the picture beforehand I didn’t know how it ended or anything. I was all prepared to enjoy it to the fullest but somehow, Diary, I suffered an awful let-down. Nelson Eddy was killed so quickly by the German count that I didn’t recover from the shock and horror of it in time to cry. However, if you had heard Mary on my left and Ruth on my right, you would have said that they made up for my lack of tears.
