I received a letter from Dora this morning. They are all well. No news of importance. There has been a fight of Murfreesboro. We thrashed the yanks soundly. Killing hogs today. Mrs. Parker came here last night at 2 o’clock to get Mr. Henry to go & cup Abbe. She is sick. He went & Betsey slept with me till day. I got up very soon this morning, soon after 4 & had breakfast by candle light. Two soldiers staid here last night. Very uncouth fellows.

Slept ’till 11:30! Talked 2 Courtney. Went 2 work from 1-close. Courtney took me home & we chilled. Showered. Renee came over & the 3 of us went 2 Chinese 35 for dinner. Courtney went home. Me and Renee tried 2 watch “The Devil’s Own” but it sucked. Talked about guys & discovered I’ll be alone 4ever.

New Year’s day. I hope another new year will not dawn on us with war & it’s horrors. ’Tis awful to contemplate. The hands began to kill hogs today, kept them busy to get 16 done. Betsey came this morning & began to weave. She will soon get the cloth out & then the negro’s jeans goes in. Mrs. Fanning has been down with sore throat this week & no better yet.

Mr. Henry came this evening after dinner. The hogs will be here tonight. Tomorrow they begin to slaughter 100 head of hogs. It will be some time before they are done. Very cold & windy today. Mr. Henry got very cold before he got home.

Up at 10:30. We all cleaned up our sleeping pallets. I played Solitaire and waited 4 Em. We went 2 Crabtree. Got shirt and music. Showered. Went 2 Dad’s 4 dinner. Me, Ashley, and Renee went 2 Courtney Wood’s party. Zach’s being so cool. I think I’m beginning to like him in the wrong way. 3 of us spent night at Ashley’s. Straight to bed.

Worked at Harrie’s glove. Finished one last night & began the other this morning. Nothing new going on. Willie is not at all well, worms I think. The negroes mostly gone to George’s breaking up Christmas frollic. Atheline & Fannie here, also Sam’s family. Willie has high fever tonight & is very scary in his sleep.

Up at 11:00. Went outside. We ordered a pizza. Very boring day. Courtney left at 3:45. I did Jane Fonda ab-work. Showered. Mom came home. I worked on guitar. Ate. Zachie came and we went 2 Renee’s. Ended up spending night. We watched “Interview with the Vampire.” Good.
