It began to mist this morning and finally wound up with a rain, which lasted about all day; it is clear this evening, and I can hear Lake Michigan roar very plainly, which seems strange when it is so still.  I did very little but sit in the house today.  Went up town and got the mail, received a letter from Scott, he is looking forward to the time when he will come home from Chili.

Did get started early to wash but not enough room to hang half. Was at it most of the day. Mrs. B. came so rested while we drank coffee and ate cookies. Washed two spreads and my 3 rugs plus all the rest. Rugs and one spread not dry.

Office day. At noon came Mr. Creed to me, whom I took along with me to the Feathers in Fish Street, where I was invited by Captain Cuttance to dinner, a dinner made by Mr. Dawes and his brother. We had two or three dishes of meat well done; their great design was to get me concerned in a business of theirs about a vessel of theirs that is in the service, hired by the King, in which I promise to do them all the service I can. From thence home again with Mr. Crew, where I finding Mrs. The. Turner and her aunt Duke I would not be seen but walked in the garden till they were gone, where Mr. Spong came to me and Mr. Creed, Mr. Spong and I went to our music to sing, and he being gone, my wife and I went to put up my books in order in closet, and I to give her her books. After that to bed.

Rained all day. Fannie cleaned up the room upstairs. There is one bed tick entirely scoured. Col. Vance wants to bring his wife here to board. The branch so backed can’t grind at mill. The creek rising did considerable harm to Mr. Henry’s mill dam, the dirt work. It will be several days before they grind again. I & Atheline made two shirts for Hanes & Pea. Done all their shirts now.

Got out of school at 12:00. Went over to Courtney’s and chilled with her, Tim, Sean, and Tommy. Fun as hell ’cause I missed Tim and Sean so much. Came home and watched the story with Mom, Em, and Kathy. Eddie picked me up. Went to Los Tres and then to his house. I had an awful tummy-ache and didn’t eat shit. Watched all the shows. Came home and didn’t do anything but go to bed. It felt good as hell!!!
