Got up at 10:00. Showered. Went home. Chilled. Worked with Karen from 2:30-5:30. Ate. Picked up Jon. Went 2 Ash’s, he met Karen. My car lost a piece of plastic. Went 2 Helen’s. Took Christian, Katy, and Jon to some chick’s house out in bumfuck and almost got in many wrecks. Came home.

It was interesting to see things unravel today. Sean’s “Mr. Nice-Guy” and Mike’s still the guy I want. Driver’s Ed was boring and Karen stayed after, too. She was hangin’ on Mike, but I don’t mind. Home at 5:15 ’cause Em and Mom had to go to Goodberry’s. Got home and Eddie picked me up. Normal routine. Loaded with homework. Home at 9:30. Called Courtney briefly. Talked to Ashley. Justin likes her! :)

Lo and I up earlier than the folks, did pack some, ate late, M.L. to Sunday school. Lo, she and I walked to a shopping center. Fran was washing. Later went to Howard-Johnson’s to eat. Then home for the grip and away to Ft. Laud. Very windy, plane didn’t make quite as good time but reached Chicago safely. Had a big meal on plane. Champagne before. Classy. Very cold and windy in Chi. Got a cab to N.W. Depot. Reached home at 1:00. Started to rain before getting off. Helen to meet us, we were sure glad.

Rainy and I do mean rainy. Going to Eng. Lit. we nearly drowned — I never saw such a heavy rain. Came down in sheets. Voice lesson at 10. Good. Tennis in gym at 11. Lecture on scoring. Didn’t go to lunch. Studied Philosophy. Rained all afternoon. Piano lesson at 2. At 4 Charlene Miller and I made recital date — May 15. Finished philosophy by dinner. Betty and I decided to go to show — in spite of everything! Nearly starved by dinner time. Went to Missouri in rain to see “Miracle of Morgan’s Creek” — sat in balcony. Quite a show! We nearly popped a seam laughing. It was different from the usual slapstick comedy affair. Out about 9:15. Wisps of clouds very low — windy but mild. Raining a little. Glorious night. Did philosophy outline. To bed sort of late. Betty wrote a story today. “Letter to Jerry” — kids (E., J., M.J. and N.) thought it was wonderful.

Cloudy at first, cleared -- beautiful, mild. In history, Bunny sat in the back of the room for awhile. Had test in typing. Bad grade. So beautiful and breezy outside. Glee Club sang at Rotary, so typing class was prolonged. Some men came last period and I had to show them to Mrs. Geasland, etc. Fun. After school I went to Ruth’s with Helen, Roberta, and two others while they practiced a play. I sat outside with Pan. Home about 4:15. Very beautiful Spring afternoon. Clouds coming up. Practiced. At night we practiced. Read magazine. G.L. said upon seeing me at noon, “Here comes that pretty Canadian” -- I contradicted with: “German.”

It rained all last night. I arrived at 5 this morning and went over to my house to get an old overcoat to wear riding in the storm. I put my rubber coat over that. We had a bad ride, I never rode when it was such awful going the buggy came near to tipping over many times. It both rained and snowed, and grew much colder. I am stopping at the Sentinel Houses tonight, as it is near the depot. I went over town and bought a vase to present to Will and his wife when I get to Mt. Pleasant.

Fred and I got up about 8 o’clock this morning. I shaved and got ready to go to church right after breakfast. It has been another fine warm day. I went into the store a minute just after church, but the telegraph was not working, so I came back right away. I began a letter to Kate before dinner. I went over to our farm this afternoon and walked around looked at the trees and other things. I wish Kate was here now. I am beginning to want my home pretty badly. I called at the Morrows and saw their new girl, which they got from the school at Coldwater. I stayed to go up town this afternoon, but met [Cha..?] Fitts and James Case, so came back and had a sing with them. Have to go to the store in the morning.

I made Peter’s shirt, got done soon after dinner & then began to turf the lower side of my walk. Brought dirt out of the garden, Uncle Sam is working in there. John went Tuesday after wheat to R. P. Wells & got back today. Parker went after him this morning. Fannie helped me in the yard after she came back from D. Ledford’s. She went to get her soap kit. He has been hooping it. We got the turfing nearly half done. Atheline not very well. She attended Willie. Mr. Henry got us two lbs. of coffee in Asheville today. He is so good to me.
