I fussed around measuring land and doing odd jobs this forenoon. Mr. Betts brought my fruit trees and vines just before noon and I heeled them in this afternoon. Kate went after flowers with Jessie Neil this afternoon.

It has been a beautiful day. We went to church this forenoon, it was a memorial service for the late Mrs. A. Waters. We took dinner ant Neills and Fred hitched a horse up for Kate and Jessie to drive and we footed it around by Crystal Lake and his farm.

I dug out 11 stumps this forenoon, and set some stump piles on fire. I cut my hand with the pruning knife this afternoon and then I quit work. Went up town and got the mail and called at Dr. Taylors.

It rained very hard this morning and I didn’t do much but write this forenoon. It was pleasant this afternoon and I picked up and logged in the slashing. It has grown very cool. Kate and I called at Mr. Morrows tonight.

I went over this morning and helped Fred Neill put up his new Acme [?] harrow. He has been working it on my land this afternoon. It seems to work well. I spent sometime picking up sticks and grubs [?]. It is warm again.

Fred Neill had Artie Hern harrowing for me today. I staked out the ground for the plum and pear orchard and planted 10 plum & 6 pear trees. Fred Waters sawed some oats and I sowed some clover seed. It rained some today noon. It is cold tonight.

I got up this morning at 5 o’clock and sowed clover seed. Kate and I set out 54 plum trees today. I felt very tired at noon. I got a P.O. order from pa for $100 to buy a horse with. Fred Waters is staying here tonight.

I set out 35 Peach trees on the hill today. Fred Waters was putting out trees today. Kate went up to Mr. Judson’s this afternoon and Fred and I went up and took supper there, we had a pleasant time. It sprinkled some tonight.

It was raining this morning so we did not go to church. I wrote a letter to pa. We went over to Neills and ate fish for dinner. We stayed a while in the afternoon and then came home.

It rained some this morning and has been damp and muggy all day. The sand flies bit finely. Kate and I set out 65 peach trees. We are through with the trees. I went up town and got the mail tonight.

Kate went over to Eden with Mrs. Neill this norning. I split out some stakes and went over  to the Court House a while. This afternoon I went over to Eden visited with C. Fitts and looked the places pretty much all over. Went up town tonight.

We had a genuine thunder storm this morning. When it stopped raining I went up town and mailed some letters. I have been logging most all day. It has been hot and the sand flies were thick.

I have been logging most all day. I had Fred Waters help me this afternoon. It rained about 4 o’clock and we had to quit work. Carrie Heath visited Kate this afternoon and Fred and she stayed to supper. I went up town tonight and got a letter fro Kate from Mrs. Smith of Tenn.

We got up at 4:30 this morning and got ready to go to Pleasanton. We started at 6:30 and got there at 10 o’clock. We have had a good time and seen some nice country and some pretty new and wild. We are staying all night.

It rained all the forenoon. I went over to the Court House to look up some mortgages that Ed. Ball wrote to inquire about.  Kate and I took dinner at Morrows. We have begun to pack up. We took supper at Neills. Kate is doing a washing tonight. There is a heavy fog.

We left Benzonia at 4:30 this morning. When we got to Frankfort we had to wait until about 11 before the boat went, as he was undergoing inspection.. It was rough and I was some sick  & so was Kate. We are at the Dunham House, Manistec [?], tonight.

We got up at 4 this morning and took the train at 5:15. Mrs Taylor left us at Reed City. Robert Tufts was conductor on our train to Saginaw. It has been a  warm day. We met the Rev. Mr. Bailey at Wayne Jc. Pa and Willie met us at Delhi and we are in our old home again tonight.

I went to Scio with the folks to wash sheep but as they had to wait, I came home and mowed in the dooryard. Pa and I worked in the grave yard some this afternoon. The Reading Circle met at Osbert Williams tonight. I acted as chairman. Kate was over home today.
